“…all moments are key moments,
and life itself is grace.”

– Frederick Buechner

I was able to get out of bed this morning,
even with pain.
Grace.

I played and laughed and ate with my kids.
Grace.

I kissed my husband goodbye
and hello again after
a long day’s work.
Grace.

And now,
the gentle hum of
an oscillating fan
as I lay next to
my dozing child,
her sigh inevitable,
and it’s all grace.

Every breath,
every flower,
every ray of sun,
every drop of rain,
every whisper on the breeze
telling us
there’s something more.

All these seeming
nothings that are
just everything,
these nothings
that make up the
whole of our lives.

It is not the next thing.
It is now.
And it is
grace.

“You can have the other words – chance, luck, coincidence, serendipity.
I’ll take grace.
I don’t know what it is exactly,
but I’ll take it.”
– Mary Oliver
